Vallinfreda e Toronto uniti a Padre Ugo Sturabotti per i suoi cinquant’anni di sacerdozio

VALLINFREDA (ROMA ITALY 8 DEC 2023) – Sarà celebrata oggi 8 dicembre 2023 la ricorrenza del cinquantesimo anniversario del’ordinazione sacerdotale di Padre Ugo Sturabotti. Originario di Vallinfreda, il prelato è amatissimo a Toronto in Canada, dove da oltre trent’anni è al servizio pastorale della comunità italiana di Woodbridge.

Padre Ugo, fu promotore della costruzione della Chiesa dell’Immacolata Concezione iniziata nel 1986. Una iniziativa che ebbe ad intraprendere in relazione al sensibile aumento demografico della popolazione residente, per cui necessitava una nuova parrocchia. E qui fu parroco per sedici anni.

La Parrocchia dell’Immacolata Concezione è stata eretta il 17 settembre 1986, a causa dell’afflusso di popolazione cattolica nell’area di Woodbridge.  Fr. Eugene Chianain è l’attuale parroco che celebrerà, unitamente ad altre autorità ecclesiastiche canadesi, la Santa Messa solenne nella stessa chiesa eretta da Padre Ugo.

Oggi la parrocchia  assiste  3.500 famiglie , prevalentemente di origine italiana, anche se negli ultimi anni sta diventando multiculturale con l’afflusso di nuove famiglie immigrate dall’India, Filippine, Sri Lanka, ecc. La parrocchia provvede ai bisogni spirituali di cinque scuole elementari e una scuola superiore.

La Parrocchia dell’Immacolata Concezione rappresenta la crescita e la maturità dei 50 anni di presenza della Congregazione dei padri concezionisti a Toronto. Ed oggi nella sua Chiesa Padre Ugo sarà festeggiato in grande stile alle ore 19.00 ora locale in Canada.

La comunità di Vallinfreda, si stringe intorno a quella di Woobridge onorando a distanza il proprio conterraneo con orgoglio e con gli auguri di ogni bene.

VALLINFREDA – The fiftieth anniversary of the priestly ordination of Father Ugo Sturabotti will be celebrated today, 8 December 2023. Originally from Vallinfreda, the prelate is much loved in Toronto, Canada, where he has been at the pastoral service of the Italian community of Woodbridge for over thirty years.

Father Ugo promoted the construction of the Church of the Immaculate Conception which began in 1986. An initiative that he undertook in relation to the significant demographic increase in the resident population, which required a new parish. And here he was parish priest for sixteen years.

Immaculate Conception Parish was erected on September 17, 1986, due to the influx of Catholic population into the Woodbridge area. Br. Eugene Chianain is the current parish priest who will celebrate, together with other Canadian ecclesiastical authorities, the solemn Holy Mass in the same church erected by Father Ugo.

Today the parish assists 3,500 families, mainly of Italian origin, although in recent years it is becoming multicultural with the influx of new immigrant families from India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, etc. The parish provides for the spiritual needs of five elementary schools and one high school.

The Parish of the Immaculate Conception represents the growth and maturity of the 50 years of presence of the Congregation of the Conceptionist Fathers in Toronto. And today in his church Father Ugo will be celebrated in grand style at 7.00 pm local time in Canada.

The community of Vallinfreda rallies around that of Woobridge, honoring their fellow countryman from a distance with pride and with best wishes.
